Pee Standing vs. Pee Sitting
Why our Kings should sit!
To pee or not to pee standing up?
To pee or not to pee standing up? Is the question that seems to be sweeping the nation. For starters, sitting down to ensures that you don't leave behind any urine on the toilet seats for our Queens. Sitting down also has a number of other benefits which include; improving your bladder and prostate health, a reduce in lower urinary tract symptoms, assures the complete elimination of urine in the bladder, etc. There are also studies that associate sitting down to pee with better sexual performance, thanks to improved prostate health.
“Real men don't sit down to pee,”
🚫WRONG🚫
Real men don't sit down to pee,” is a stereotypical statement that has been overly used for many years. While the statement itself reeks of gender stereotyping and unproven masculine pride, the question that should be asked is whether it is healthier for men to pee standing or sitting. If you thought that there was some cool, evolutionary perspective behind why most men pee standing up, well, you’re wrong. Historically speaking, there’s no real reason why men began to pee standing up while women sat. However, it is believed to have been a more quicker and/or convenient way for men to eliminate waste from their bladder. Not to mention, it's probably just because they could! Let's take a look at a couple reasons why it is healthier and more hygienic to sit than stand when peeing.
It stops the spread of Infections disease
If splattering all over yourself and the toilet doesn’t convince you to change your position, think of all the infections you’re spreading! Although urine is sterile when produced by the kidneys and later stored in the bladder, once it's released from the body during the urination process it’s no longer sterile. The more pee droplets that accumulate from each individual on the toilet seat, the easier the spread of germs that cause the common cold, flu, rubella, E.Col, and Meningococcal diseases, among others.
If you’re sick, your body is constantly fighting to remove the unwanted infection through bodily waste removal. If you happen to have faulty target practice, you could spread your infection to the person who uses the restroom after you. And if you’re using a public restroom, you might be at the receiving end of these infections.
It Might Be Healthier For Your Bladder
A significant amount of the male population is affected by lower urinary tract symptoms (or LUTS), and have no clue. The symptoms of LUTS include a longer than usual wait for the stream of urine to begin, Weak and/or poorly directed stream of urine, Chronic Urination Retention caused by the incomplete elimination of urine from the bladder, Straining to urinate, and an irregular urination stream. Studies suggest that sitting down to pee may improve prostate health. It also, relaxes the bladder to help make the dispel of urine easier, it completely empties your bladder of urine, improves the flow of urine and reduces the chance of LUTS.
It May eliminate sexual dysfunction
Some experts claim that by improving your prostate health, sitting down to pee also enhances your performance in bed. While this hypothesis hasn’t been clinically proven, it does have some merit.
Furthermore, it is important to understand the purpose of the prostate gland. The prostate serves as a fertility function as it secretes the seminal fluid (a main component of semen) that helps to nourish and transport the sperm that comes from the testicles. The fluid is then stored in the seminal vesicles. The prostate surrounds the urethra, which is the tube that carries urine from the bladder out through the tip of the penis. The muscles of the prostate gland help propel this seminal fluid into the urethra during ejaculation . As the prostate grows larger due to straining during urination and aging, it may press on the urethra. This narrowing of the urethra can cause some men with prostate enlargement to have trouble with urination and ejaculation.
Both prostate problems and LUTS are linked with sexual dysfunction in men and since peeing sitting down can deal with these to some extent, it spells good news for men’s sex life too.
On a lighter note, it can enhance sex life in other ways – a clean toilet seat is an aphrodisiac to women, haven’t you heard?
